The Lifemate Scarf Camera Strap feels like a well-manufactured product from the outset – its soft fabric and trendy colour were the first things to grab my attention.

The strap is made from rayon, which is a manufactured fibre that uses natural resources (for example agricultural products or wood).

There are quite a few types of this material that can impressively imitate the texture of silk, wool, cotton and linen.

To make rayon you need natural cellulose and that’s why this material is not considered to be synthetic.

Except for the nice material used, another thing that I noticed right away and liked was the little camera design on the leather tips which complements the whole look in a really great way.

One more advantage to note here is the fact that the fabric expands out and this makes it easier for the weight to be better distributed in case you’re carrying a heavy camera.

The Lifemate Scarf Strap feels very comfortable around the neck. The original strap from my camera often felt a bit too rough, especially when I’d add heavy lenses and the overall weight was increased.

It’s extra easy to notice the positive aspects of the product if you try it out in hot or humid (or both!) climate conditions – you’ll notice that the soft fabric is gentle on the skin and thus makes sweating less likely.

Just like a scarf that you’d wear with your everyday outfit, it’s also breathable and feels light.

For me personally the biggest advantage as far as the appearance is concerned is the remarkable variety of different fabrics. It no longer feels just like camera gear, but more like an accessory that you can combine with your outfit.

You can choose from solid colour fabrics to light-hearted patterns which include flowery/plant designs and evergreen dots and checks.

It’s basically compatible with all sorts of outfits – from casual denim looks to blazing summer dresses.

There’s only one thing which I didn’t quite like about the appearance of the strap: it tends to be a bit wrinkle-prone, so you’ll need to use the iron from time to time to keep it in its best shape.

This is how you can attach the Lifemate Scarf Strap to your camera.

Lifemate Scarf Camera Strap is attached to the body of your camera with its slender string loops – all you need to do is to put them through the camera’s strap slots.

It pretty much works with all kinds of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. In my case, I’ve tested it with my Sony A7, which is a light camera and didn’t put a lot of weight on the scarf.

The adjustable endings allow you to easily change the overall length of this strap and thus you can use it either as a camera cross-body strap or as a camera neck strap.

Both options are really fine depending on the occasion. For me personally, using it as a cross-body strap is more comfortable.

I tested the Scarf Strap on a short hike and I can definitely confirm that one of the biggest advantages of this product lies in the way it feels around your neck.

The material is soft and you can safely wear it for extended periods of time without feeling any physical discomfort.

You can also extend the piece of fabric to your liking and make it wider to distribute the weight of your camera better.

It’s actually wide enough for you to get creative and add a pocket to it. This pocket could be a place where you store your documents or a nice snug cache for the additional filter you might carry around for the lenses.

Value for Money

The price of this product on the market is below $15 (depending on the print you choose – see latest pricing here) and it’s a bargain to say the least.

It’s a very reasonable price bearing in mind the quality of the materials and the way the strap is manufactured.

The only problem is that with all those different prints it’s kind of difficult to choose only one which will be suitable for most of your outfits.

Luckily the cost does allow you to add more than one Lifemate Scarf Strap to your collection.

It’s worth owning at least a couple of them so that you have the freedom choose according to the particular situation or the certain look you’re trying to achieve.
